Joseph "Bud" Stanley Davis

Joseph Stanley "Bud" Davis, a resident of the Dock Woods Community, Lansdale, PA and the Sawgrass Community of Ponte Vedra, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at home in Lansdale following a brief stay in the hospital. He was 98.

Born in 1926 to Marion Addis Davis and Paul S. Davis, Bud was descended on his mother's side from some of the earliest families in Bucks County, including the Addis family, for which Addisville and the Addisville Reformed Church were named. He attended Richboro High School and graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA in 1948. In 1950, Bud married Dorothy E. "Dotty" Belzer, to whom he remained devoted for 64 years, until her death in September 2014.

Bud was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Davis Pontiac in Richboro, from 1948 until he retired in 1986. He was an active member of business, civic, and church communities, serving at various times as Elder and Deacon of the Addisville Reformed Church, Director of Horizon Financial, Trustee of the Bucks County Historical Society, President of the Pennsylvania Automotive Association, President of the Bucks County Auto Dealers Association, member of the Pontiac Zone and Regional Dealer Council and the General Motors Presidents Dealer Advisory Council and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.

In retirement, Bud and Dotty became residents of Florida, where they owned a home in the Sawgrass Community of Ponte Vedra Beach, while maintaining a home in New Hope, eventually moving to the Dock Woods retirement community in Lansdale. Bud was an avid golfer, with memberships in both the Doylestown Country Club and the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra.

Bud had a great smile and loved a good laugh, often at his own expense. He was a gregarious and sociable person and genuinely loved people from all walks of life. Anyone who spent any time with him would say that he left them feeling happier and better about themselves.  He was one of the most generous, cheerful, and optimistic people many of us will ever know. He developed many, many deep and lasting friendships, and took care to stay in touch with the people he cared about. Bud enjoyed travelling, especially to golf courses around the country, and to visit friends in the US and abroad.  He was a devout Christian and active church member.

Most of all, Bud was a devoted husband and father, and an especially loving and attentive grandfather. He took immense pleasure as his grandchildren grew into adults with their own families, making him a proud and doting great-grandfather.

Bud is survived by his son, Glenn Davis, Glenn's wife Darlene Cantrelle, his daughter, Debbie Dutko, Debbie's husband David, 6 grandchildren, Marc Poole, Tim, Lucy, and Austin ("Buddy") Davis, Erin Dutko Teasley, and Michael Dutko, granddaughters-in-law, Madai Poole, Miranda Anastasia, and Celeste Dutko, as well as 9 great-grandchildren.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Camille Tomlinson, who provided the highest level of live-in care to Bud from May 2023 until his death, ensuring that his last months of life were comfortable and worry-free.

A private memorial service will be held for the family at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, with a celebration of life for family and friends will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Bethanna (bethanna.org), a Christian organization providing care for children and families, or to a charity of your choice.
