Condolences for Melvin S. Blumenthal, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Judy KinaszczukMonday, June 1st

I am so very sorry to hear of Mel's passing. I had the honor to work with him at BMS. He was one of the best. He was so caring, obviously intelligent, and a leader. My heart goes out to the family at this extremely difficult time. With deepest and sincerest sympathy, Judy Kinaszczuk

Dr. Blumenthal, was a great friend a brilliant doctor and an excellent researcher. He was always there. After he left Monroe we spoke frequently and wrote long emails back and forth. My wife and I visited he and Elizabeth a couple of times in Pennsylvania near all kinds of historical locations. Mel tutored us on Washington's crossing the Delaware river . We also had dinner one evening in a very old bar and grill; people like John Adams, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson used to have dinner there and plan a future for all of us. Mel was always so full excitement whenever he was in the teaching mode and he was a great teacher. Friend, doctor, teacher and research director and Oh did I mention wonderful friend, I will miss him greatly.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Blumenthal for many years at BMS in the Cardiovascular R&D Department. He was always so kind and genuine to everyone around him; sharing news of his family and showing us pictures of their gatherings and vacations. My sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to his family on this sad occasion, he will be missed.

It was the greatest honor to work for Dr. Blumenthal during my career at Bristol-Myers Squibb. He had a heart of gold and was the most gentle soul I have ever met - indeed the best manager I ever had at BMS. He shared wonderful stories of his family to me. I had the pleasure of meeting he and his beautiful bride Elizabeth for lunches and dinners outside the office. He even came over to our home, over and hour from his house, to see my son fly his remote control airplanes as he was quite the plane enthusiast. His generosity and kind spirit will be remembered by me and my family who loved him very much. I am heartbroken to lose such a great friend much too early in life. My love to the Blumenthal family.
