Dad, you were everything to your family and I will miss you and remember you forever! You made me the man that I am. We will take care of mom so don’t worry. I love you, Walter
Condolences for E. Walter Frasch
We extend to Chris and family our prayers for comfort at the passing of Walt. As Pastor, I much appreciated his gentle yet firm presence. I cherish our years together. Peace
Walt was a great friend. We worked together at Kulicke and Soffa, and enjoyed lunch together once a week for almost 30 years. He was terrifically loyal to me, and when he wasn’t working, he drove 40 minutes each way to have lunch with me. We shared a love of opera and the Philadelphia Orchestra, and together with Chris and my wife Kris, would meet occasionally at the Kimmel. He could do everything mechanical from intricate mechanism design to high level finite element analysis to bracket design (inside joke, sorry). He shared with me the joys of working at and achieving some success at his golf game.. I loved hearing about his job at the lawn mower shop when he was underage. I see his picture here and can hardly believe it. My deep sympathies go out to his family. I am sorry that I can’t share stories about him with you in person. Love, Mark
The one thing I will remember most about my father-in-law is that he was always there. If we needed a hand with any household appliance, needed a ride, or even if we needed furniture moved to the basement (there's a story...) we always knew we could call him, and he would show up. He thought nothing of driving 5 hours to watch his grandson commission or sit at a freezing cold football game to watch his grandsons play. He would be there with his camera waiting to take a picture. We will miss relying on his steadfast advice and his quiet company. I am so very grateful my husband and sons had such a wonderful role model who always put family first by being there.
I am so sorry for your painful and sudden loss. Nothing can be said to make this any easier. However, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.
GROWING UP IN OLNEY, THE FRASCH FAMILY WAS OUR NEIGBOR. THEY WERE WE THE BEST NEIGHBORS ANYBODY COULD HAVE. THE WITKOSKI FAMILY KNEW MR FRASCH TO HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SO PATIENT AND MILD WITH EVERYTHING. I REMEMBER WHEN HE MADE THEIR KITCHEN TABLE WAY BACK THEN ON NEDRO AVENUE, AND WHEN HE REFINISHED THEIR HARDWOOD FLOORS. I ALSO REMEMBER HOW HE AND MY FATHER WOULD DISCUSS ENGINEERING QUESTIONS AND WORK ON SOLVING THEM TOGETHER. ONE DAY, WHILE MR FRASCH WAS DOING SOME WOODWORKING IN HIS GARAGE, HE NOTICED THAT I WAS NOT HAVING THE BEST DAY. IN HIS QUIET WAY, HE CAME OVER AND HANDED ME A SMALL CIRCLE OF WOOD HE CUT OUT AND TOLD ME THAT SOMETIMES LIFE CAN GIVE YOU WOODEN NICKELS. HE SAID TO NOT BE DISCOURAGED. IT MAY SOUND RIDICULOUS, BUT THAT MEANT THE WORLD TO ME AND IT IMPACTED THE REST OF MY LIFE. I STILL HAVE THAT WOODEN NICKEL. MR FRASCH WAS NOT A GOOD MAN, HE WAS A GREAT MAN. I KNOW HE INFLUENCED MANY PEOPLE THROUGHOUT HIS LIFE. I AM GLAD THAT I WAS ONE OF THEM. HE WILL SURELY BE MISSED. MY FAMILY OFFERS ITS SINCEREST CONDOLENCES TO MRS FRASCH, SUSIE, MICHAEL, WALTER AND ALL OF THEIR FAMILIES.
Grandpop,
Thank you for the endless love and support that you always showed our family. It was a privilege to grow up having a role model like you in my life. We will miss you and always cherish the memories made and time spent together. Love, Dan
Grandpop,
You mean the world to me. From when I was little and looked forward to spending time at your house and you showing me how to use a computer, to when I was older and could always count on you for a corny joke that made me laugh until my sides hurt. You are the smartest, most solid man I have ever known/will know and I thank you for everything that you taught me and did for me. You will always hold a large place in my heart, and I will hold on tight to my memories of you.
Love always, Christine
I've known Walt for many years both as a knowledgeable colleague at Kulicke & Soffa and more recently, as my "golf buddy".
Walt achieved much in his years at K&S and everyone recognized his knowledge and contributions to its success. I like to think that he also achieved a level of success in the game of golf which he obviously learned to like and to love. I admired him for the effort he put in to get better. I watched him struggle in the beginning and then, slowly but surely, apply himself to improve, as was his nature. He got the "bug" and nothing would stand in his way. I was happy to see him improve and finally enjoy it it tremendously. I'm also happy that we got to spend time together to enjoy the game no matter the weather not to mention his insightful quips about the world, work and the game including a few "new ones" he developed for this pastime we all love.
My wife Antoinette and I offer our deepest condolences to Chris, his children and extended family and friends. I will surely miss him but he will not be forgotten. We will laugh as we recount his famous quips at the next round and I'm sure he will be laughing with us...
Walt hired me 25 years ago at Kulicke & Soffa, and we had a very close working relationship ever since. For over 10 years, he was part of our “lunch-time” walking group, and we became great friends. When my mom died in 2005, I was touched to see that Walt drove 4 hours round-trip on a weeknight just to attend her viewing. Walt was the quintessential mechanical engineer that could design on the computer, and build it in the machine shop, with an unparalleled ability to think mechanically in 3D. Walt retired 10 years ago, but after 2 years asked if he could come back and work for me again (that was 8 years ago). Even as an octogenarian, Walt still loved working and got-the-job-done. Walt had a passion for problem solving, and was always enthusiastic to keep learning new things, even at 81. He is my role model! My deepest sympathy goes to his family.
I knew Walt for 27 years as a co-worker at Kulicke & Soffa. When I first started he was a mentor to me, encouraging me to aim for the best results. I respected him greatly for his Engineering knowledge. And then in the past 13 years he has been one of my golfing partners. Lots of days in the heat and cold and rain swinging golf clubs and looking for lost balls, celebrating the plays we played well, and still enjoying the days when we didn’t. Thanks Walt for being my friend. You will be missed!
