Jennifer Cook ZalepkaWednesday, April 7th

The world lost a truly amazing man! My uncle would give anyone in need anything he could. I will never forget his smile and laugh! I was lucky to have him around while growing up with my cousins, he always had the cool “toys”, especially his cars!!! I love you Uncle Don and until we meet again I will miss you tremendously.

BEEN A CUSTOMER OF DON'S AND A FRIEND FOR OVER THIRTY YEARS ALWAYS SMILING AND ALWAYS JOKED ABOUT THE COST OF THE REPAIRS WHEN YOU ASKED HIM LIKE 5OO. AND THEN HE WOULD LAUGH AND SMILE HAND YOU THE BILL IT BE $ 125, 25 , THE LAST COUPLE OF TIMES WE TALKED ABOUT OUR HEALTH AND THE meds we were taking , he was so thoughtful the last two inspections Don would give me a ride home and than come down and pick me up when the car was done he knew my knees were bad and just wanted to help, so yes to say he will be missed is very true you wont find a business owner like don who really cares about his customers like Don did sending prayers for Dot and Brian who i got to know over the years and the rest of the family.

I have known Don since a teenager now 60 and I can honest say I admired Don for the path in life he chose. Very straight forward with no gray areas. I grew to be friends with Don and was grateful to becomes friend with his children. Don is a huge loss to Philadelphia small business and the customers he became friends with. Don, your a heck of a guy and will miss the laughter when I stopped in the office to say hello. Your friend forever. Bob

Don was truly an amazing man. He will be missed by more people than anyone could ever imagine. I am one of those people. I have known Don for over 45yrs. I was around 12yrs old when he and the rest of my older brother Fran, and his gear head friends, would hang around working on and racing their cars. It is no surprise that Don turned his passion for cars into a successful business. I even worked for Don for a short while when I was young and got laid off from work. He was kind enough to give me a job cleaning up and pumping gas to keep some money in my pocket. Yes, he had gas pumps! Don was the most kind and generous person you could meet and I witnessed this on many occasions. Whenever I would pick up my cars, he would greet me with a, "You ready for this...it's a biggie", even if it wasn't. That was followed by his unmistakable smile and his infectious laugh. I spent a lot of time reminiscing with him about the good old days and the cars he and his friends use to have, (there were quite a few). It was always a pleasure to be around him and I am honored to have known him and to have called him my friend. I cannot believe he is gone. My heartfelt condolences go out to Dot, Brian, Tom, Kelly, Frank and the rest of Don's family. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Don was a great guy, always took care of me and my family when we needed help. A true Icon from the old neighborhood, throughout the 80s I used to walk past the shop on my way to friends houses on the other side of Rising Sun.passing Oma's house as well.I would always see him outside in the parking lot well before I even knew him, he was always there. May he rest in Peace.

My family has known the "Dunnings" for over 40 years. Suburban Automotive was fortunate enough to enjoy a great personal and business relationship with them. Many years of memories still remain. Giving out orange "Don's Auto Service" rulers is still a favorite.
We will remember Don as a good friend, son, father and husband. His smile and laugh will be remembered forever. Another star will shine brighter in the sky at night. Rest in peace "Our Friend."

We've known Don for about 25 yrs. And I echo everybody's sentiments.
He would always charge a fair amount for his services.
It seemed that it would usually be about the time for his vacation, and we'd joke about some of the costs for my bigger jobs always occurring around that time.

There was always good conversation in the waiting room.
I'd tease the other customers about my 'Don's GOLD card'.
he will be sorely missed and my deepest condolences to Dotting, Brian and the rest of the top-notch staff.
God bless, Don

What a shock!!!
My condolences to Dot, family and staff. Don was such a nice guy.
He got us out of countless jams with our 3 sons and their cars.
He was a real gentlemen and will be sorely missed.

When I heard the news of the passing of Don, at first I felt the initial shock of course whenever that kind of news is delivered. However, that shock quickly turned into sadness because although the past 17 years I have known Don it was always on a professional level, bringing one my cars in for his expert advice and service. However, over the years I came to think of Don and his family as friends and thoroughly enjoyed the conversations and banter at the shop, discussions that went from cars, and politics, to discussions of our Lord and Savior.
I think the thing about Don is that not only could you tell right after meeting him that he was truly and genuinely a great guy, but you knew also that he was an honorable man. Something that in today’s world, where we seem to be putting God on a shelf is rare, he was the epitome of hard work and honor, and truly walked the walk and lived as we have been directed by the lord, loving our follow man.
My heart goes out to his family especially Mrs. Dunning and my prayers will be with you, I pray that you take solace knowing that he is with the Lord right now, he fought the good fight.
May God bless you all and give you peace.
