Condolences for Melvin "Mel" R. Scott

Pamela DuffMonday, January 31st

Mel, When anyone hears the name…Mel it’s synonymous with the job is going to be done correctly. Mel worked at carr and duff for

38 years and earned mel the nickname midnight mel. always willing and able to work

I’ve known Mel since I was 12 years old and being a slow learner it took the last 17 years to finish my lessons. mels attitude towards life and it’s

hurdles was one of the most important lessons. I was very honored to spend time with Mel learning all I could from Mels” wisdom beyond years.

Mels approach towards any problems or tasks was like no other! Just this last month Mel finally took one of my suggestions…I didn’t know I was close to graduating.

1 Thessalonians 4:11 Aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your own hands...

This is how Mel lived his life. Mel worked every day from sunrise to sunset and was as sturdy as the Woolrich flannel shirts Mel loved to wear.

In the early light of day, Mel sat in his truck, drinking his morning coffee, smoking his marlboro and listening to the Oldies, while looking out to

the quiet landscape, the fruits of his labor were all around him.

Mel was a man of integrity, Mel took no short cuts, and was as honest as the day is long. Mel toiled the soil, split the wood, all the while with a smile.

In Matthew 20-Jesus told a parable in which the church is the vineyard of God. Those who labor in the vineyard should do with all their might and

the Lord will reward-not on length of service, but on the depth of service.

Mel earned his reward of eternal rest in the loving embrace of God.

Mels depth of service every one of us here has been taught life lessons by Mel which we will always have with us.

Mel was one of the greatest mentors. He was Mel and he will never be forgotten. We love you Mel. Rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of Mel’s passing. I always enjoyed his company when I was at the farm to trim the donkey’s feet. He was truly one of the good guys.
