Condolences for William G. Stocks

Stephanie and Mark CulpThursday, September 22nd

The Culp family does not think of softball without thinking of Bill. Early morning trips to far away places with buckets and coolers. Many coaches meetings in parking lots with refreshments. He looked like a tough guy on the field but he could not hand out the awards without tearing up. He was a big softy. We will be lifted up with the memories of our family trips together. And some really bad hotels along the way! Rest In Peace Coach.

We welcomed you into our family and will certainly miss you. Truly an amazing man! Deepest sympathy to all of the family.

Bill Stocks was a one of a kind personality with a love for the game of softball that made incredible impact on several generations of Softball players and their families. Bill is a true softball legend and stories about him will be shared and enjoyed for years to come.
Coach Bill teams worked harder than anyone, expected to win and battled the right way til the end no matter what the score. Bill put his full heart and soul into his teams and didn’t let them stop working until they achieved excellence. He taught the spirit and skills needed to compete at the highest level, preparing girls for the opportunity to play in college and making them believe they can achieve big goals.
The only thing Bill loved more than softball was his family. Thanks to Rose and all the Stocks/McClintock family for sharing so much of the big guy’s time for all those great years. Bill will be missed greatly, but never forgotten by anyone who knew him. I am thankful for all the great times we had with Bill.
I expect there are a bunch of girls up in heaven right now practicing softball until past dark and getting yelled at for their bad throws, but they will learn that it is all from love and they will no doubt be making it to the finals of their next tournament.

I met Bill & Rose in The Villages, Fl a few years ago. We would meet up for happy hour and in the squares for the live music. They where so much fun to be around. Bill invited us over multiple times for dinner. Sadly we never had the chance to go. He was always warm and welcoming. I am so heartbroken. ❤️‍🩹

Bill was a GREAT guy & we wish we would have had more time to get to know him better. He will be missed here in Florida. Our thoughts & prayers are with Rose & the rest of Bill's family.

No matter how many memories we can recall, we have always ended them with a smile, chuckle or a
laugh out loud. Bill's passion, competitive nature, hard work, and commitment to being the best was just part of the normal week and many of our weekends for a long time. He was truly a believer in
playing softball and coaching the right way, which gave all of us some great memories, opportunities for college scholarships, rewarding experiences and many life lessons in being part of A team. Big wins on rainy April travel weekends, State Championships, tough tournament losses, long travel weekends all became part of the fun. Thru it all, Bill's bluster, expectations for excellence, and season ending emotional talks showed everyone that you could work hard and play hard while always caring and clearly having lots of fun. We can't imagine it any other way.
We share in the loss with his family. We will fondly remember Bill in so many ways as a great coach, father, husband, and friend.

Wow. Blown away as I am just reading this. Bill was my boss for a window of my employment with Pru, but was the most impactful. Bill helped so many of us newbie’s. My deepest condolences to Rose and the kids and family. 😥💙

I am shocked and incredibly saddened to hear about Bill. I had the pleasure of working with Bill for several years at Prudential. He was not only an excellent coworker but a great friend. I always enjoyed our talks over hoagies and our other lunch excursions.
He was an authentic and caring person who helped me and so many others do their job better.
My condolences to the family, he will be greatly missed by so many.

Bill was one of the “greatest shows on earth” he entertained our family like no one else. From his quirky facial expressions to his “churning the butter” to his yelling for RED and BLUE and playing flip cup with all his kids and grandkids. We have so many memories that will keep him near and dear to our hearts. I hope we all can remember the kind and loving soul he was and let those memories shine brighter in our hearts when we miss him the most.

Bill and I played little league baseball together in Markvue Manor in Pittsburgh. We also graduated together from Norwin High school in 1984. Always a great guy growing up, and I was glad to have known him. So sorry we lost touch all those years.
RIP Bill
