As a 1967 graduate of PHS I have ALWAYS remembered Mr Fritzinger as a man of dedication, enthusiasm, wisdom & grace. At the end of the day he touched so many lives with these gifts.
Mr. Fitz was one of my favorite teachers at PHS class of 86. He had such a love for history and he made me love it too! He wasn't just a 'good teacher' he was an extraordinary teacher.
I wish I had heard earlier and sent a note before he passed. Mr. Fritz instilled in me a love for history and taught me to appreciate the effort and art of learning. To this day I can draw out Civil War battle maps that I learned from him in 1984/85. He was firm, but fair and his love for history and his students was evident every day. Rest in peace Mr. Fritz. My most sincere condolences to all of his family.
We read this "news" with sadness and heavy hearts. We knew Joe for decades through the antiques busienss, as he was buying and selling antiques while teaching in New Jersey. When you steped into their home, you IMMEDIATELY stepped back a couple of hundred years in time due to the wonderful antique furniture and accessories that greeted you. Joe's passion for history was on display in his home, in his teaching, and in his life - it was a life-long passion that has been snuffed out. We will miss you, Joe!
To this day, I use some of your phases. My favorite has always been “two hands, one brain - one at a time”. Thank you, Mr. Fritzinger for every you taught me. I will never forget you. Joanne Colucci - class of 76
I sadly just read of the passing of my FAVORITE history teacher, Mr. Fritzinger. As a Junior at PHS I used to sit right in front of his desk and loved to listen to him tell stories of the early years of our country and the Founding Fathers. He started my love of the American Revolution which continues to this day. I now live on a street in Westwood that has a house where Gen. Washington stopped, and I often think of Mr. Fritz when I pass by. I kid you not, it has been 55 years since I was in his class, but last week I was telling my family a memory I had of his class. I was so blessed to have been his student.
