Keith was a joy to work with and under. He made inspections fun and entertaining. He treated everyone with respect. He will be sorely missed as a co-worker and friend and role-model for how to be persistently optimistic.

Paul CataldoTuesday, November 15th

Condolences on your loss. The Keith I knew will always be remembered for his kind heart and that infectious laugh. It was a pleasure to have known such a man and have worked with him through the years at the NRC.

I don't think I've ever encountered a co-worker as kind and gentle as Keith during my time at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Keith was a pleasure to work with and never had a bad word to say about anyone, despite what may have been very tempting situations at times. I am so sorry about his loss, and my sincerest prayers and condolences go out to the family.

Clinton HobbsTuesday, November 15th

I was saddened to hear of Keith's passing. It was my pleasure to work with him at the NRC. In addition to being a really good inspector, he always had a smile on his face and had such a positive outlook. It was always nice to see him when he came back to visit after his retirement. May he rest in peace.

Vickie & family,
I’ve known Keith since we were engineering students at TSC/TCNJ. He was my lab partner for all 4 years and we graduated together. Our careers & hobbies were very similar. We both loved airplanes & anything that traveled in space. We stayed in touch and we both visited whenever we were on the East coast especially for the TSC/TCNJ Homecoming. He recently congratulated me on the success of the James Webb Telescope. Keith never complained about his illness and always was positive about life. Both Vivian & I will truly miss him and our talks about school, engineering and Aerospace.

Jim WoessnerWednesday, November 16th

I didn't know Keith, not personally. I only knew of him, although I felt that I knew him. You see, I knew and worked with his father Tolbert, and I knew a little of his sister whom I had the great pleasure of meeting several times. But I had always heard about Keith. For all the many years that I worked with and knew his father, I heard about Keith's graduation from high school and collage and his job changes. I knew about his marriage to Vicki and the raising of their children. I knew also about his diagnosis and failing health.
Keith's passing, even though so remote from me, has somehow had an affect on me. Because I so admire his father, it pains me to think about the loss of a child, even though that child is and was a mature adult. For me, Keith is still a young man finding his way in the world, because that is how I knew him. He is still out there grappling with life, with various careers, with the pressures that the world offers. And I am living in the bubble of my life looking through the filmy haze at the lives I have known at a distance.
I give you this. Keith was a great man. He was the son of a great man who helped shape my own life. He and I have that connection and it is precious.

Inna lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ (Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return). May Almighty Allah dwell him in Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah in his mercy grant him rest, may his grave be a part of Jannatul Firdaus and an abode of light. May Allah make him pass successfully in all the stages of the life after death. May Allah accept his good deeds, forgive his shortcomings and enter him into Jannat ul Firdaus. Ameen.
The loss of Keith Young will be felt by many of our NRC colleagues. May the memories of Keith’s beautiful personality and kindness will always be in our heart.
May Allah bless and comfort Keith’s family during this time of grief.

I did not need to know Keith long to tell he was a man full of love and kindness. Every time he came to the office, he always brought smiles to everyone's faces and was just a massive source of positive energy. God will welcome you with open arms my friend, may you find peace in the next life.

Tanya MensahFriday, November 18th

I am so very sorry to learn of Keith's passing. Keith and I joined the NRC around the same time. Our paths first crossed while taking required classes in Chattanooga. In between classes and working, Keith often shared stories with me about his family. He would often tell me, "Tanya, if you're planning on having kids start saving for college as soon as they are born because you're not going to get any financial aid." :-) Before he retired from the NRC, he stopped by my office and shared another lesson with me. He said, "Growing older is hard. It requires courage and you have to be tough to deal with the things that physically happen to you or your loved ones with age." We kept in touch by email and I was happy to learn of his grandsons who he loved so very much!!!! He mentioned that if he had one tenth of their energy, he would bottle it and become a billionaire :-) Keith was an angel on earth and I will forever miss his friendship, the example that he set, the guidance that he was always willing to share, and his wise words. To his loving wife, daughters, and grandsons, Keith was ALWAYS thinking of you and ALWAYS speaking fondly of you. May God forever keep you and comfort your entire family during this time. Rest in peace Keith.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire extended Young family. I can only echo the many Positive and Heartwarming comments already made. Keith could brighten up any room with his infectious glowing smile and cheerful laugh. When he was in his NRC office, I'd always make it a point to stop by and chat because Keith could talk in-depth about most any Philly sports team. I continued to email with Keith for many years after his retirement and even threaten to stop by and bug him. He will be missed by many from his NRC "family" here but we were each just fortunate enough to have gotten to share time with him. Rest in Peace my Friend.

A fine man and a great person. If you had the honor of interacting with Keith, your day was always brighter. I will miss your joy, wisdom, and friendship. Rest in peace Keith.

Tolbert YoungMonday, November 21st

Keith was 4 years old when he and the rest of our family arrived in Germany. He played with a little German girl and when school started, he wanted to go to the German Kindergarten with her. No one at the school could speak English, therefore at the end of the school year, he was quite proficient in German. When his mother went shopping in German Stores, he could translate for her. In 1961, we came back to the US and did not get to practice German any more therefore, he lost that ability.

Galen SmithMonday, November 21st

My condolences. I worked with Keith in NRC Region I years ago. He was a truly great guy and as friendly as you could ask for. RIP
