Anthony A. Lo Russo

Anthony A. Lo Russo passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at his home in Chalfont, PA. He was 86 years old. Anthony was the beloved husband of Carol F. (Alexander) Lo Russo for 60 years.

Born on June 7, 1937 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Ernest M. and Marion E. Orthaus Lo Russo.

The oldest of five, Anthony was passionate about keeping family first. His strong sense of responsibility was demonstrated with achieving the Navy rank of E6 within 5 years while serving on the USS Ranger and USS Forrestal (the 1st of Navy’s supercarriers). He achieved The Cold War Certificate of Recognition for his service. Anthony was a leader as an Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 220 in Philadelphia, P.A. while his two sons participated, and helped organize activities including camping, canoeing, driving the Troop bus and their annual Christmas tree fundraiser. Anthony continued to stay busy with this focus of service as an active volunteer for the Chalfont Fire Company. He was a true master of gardening and loved to share his harvest with family, friends and everyone he knew. He loved being at their Ocean City, N.J. shore house where he shared his passion of fishing and crabbing with his kids and grandkids. Anthony also enjoyed hunting with fellow family members. Holidays were a special event as Anthony enjoyed baking pizzelles, Italian honey cookies, and biscotti. An avid collector of all tools ever made, he had the ability to fix or build anything with his hands.

In addition to his wife Carol, Anthony was the loving father of Anthony W. Lo Russo of Elkton, MD, Joseph E. Lo Russo and his wife Sally of Dedham, ME, Cynthia C. Sheetz and her husband Dale of Perkasie, PA; grandchildren, Alexander Lo Russo, Tyler Sheetz, Isabella Lo Russo; siblings, the late Ernest M. and Judy Lo Russo, Lawrence Lo Russo and his wife Arleen, Michael Lo Russo and his wife Brenda, the late Cathy Bukta and her husband Jim Bukta, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and extended family members.

His family invites relatives and friends to celebrate his life with them from 9:00 am until his memorial service at 10:30 am on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Joseph A Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain, PA 18901. Interment with military honors will take place immediately following the services at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Anthony’s memory may be made to the Chalfont Fire Company Auxiliary, 301 N. Main Street, Chalfont, PA 18914 Attn: Holly Dodson, which held a special meaning to him.
