David, you will be missed. It looks like we will have to do that bike ride we were talking about on the other side. Until then.

Dr. Loughran was an inspiration, personally, as I am also a practicing Infectious Disease physician. As he was my attending, helping me understand the fundamentals of infectious disease and then continuing to provide mentorship into my residency I am eternally grateful. Rest In Peace.

I had the pleasure to meet Dr. Loughran one time, about a year ago. It was at a meeting at Majestic Oaks. It was a boring meeting but the good doctor lit the room up with energy and a sense of humor. I thought he was great! He stayed after the meeting and we talked about growing up in Philadelphia, Gino's burgers and SJU. I am so sorry for your loss. If he made this big of an impact on me in 1 hour, I can't imagine all the good things he did to make everyone else's lives better. Peace to his family and friends...Kelly Butler

To the Loughran's Family:
In my 30 years as a nurse, Dave Loughran was the smartest and most compassionate physicians I ever worked with. He was quick with a smile or joke. He was not above helping a nurse pull a patient up in bed. I remember the day he told us about 3 year old Megan getting angry on the playground and slugging another kid. He was so proud of her! Then there was the time he brought baby Tommy to the hospital for us to ooggle and fight over. I hope you know that he loved and adored you all very deeply. In turn, his patients and coworkers deeply respected him. My sincere condolences.

I had the honor and privilege to work with Dr. Loughran in Medical Research for many years. He was a brilliant, sincere and compassionate physician. He was so good to his study patients and took all the time needed to answer their questions. He will be sadly missed. Everytime he came in our department he had another funny story about his children who he deeply loved. May he RIP.

Dr Loughran was the best infectious disease specialist I've know in 32 years of medical practice. He was a gifted teacher and overall wonderful human being with a riotously funny sense of humor. I will never forget him
