Lucas Philip Traverse

Lucas Philip Traverse of Chalfont passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 30, 2021 in Pittsburgh. He was 19 years old.

Born in Doylestown on September 10, 2001, Lucas was a 2019 graduate of Central Bucks South High School. He loved playing lacrosse for the Warrington Warriors, the Rhinos Lacrosse Club and CB South High School and cherished the many friends and coaches he met along the way. Lucas had a contagious smile and dry wit and was an accomplished entrepreneur who loved buying and selling items on line. He also enjoyed watching sports with his Mom, playing basketball and music with his older brother and working side-by-side with his Dad on numerous renovation projects.

As a sophomore majoring in business at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Lucas was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. His fraternity brothers describe Lucas as one of the most caring, loyal, kind, funny friends they ever had, as well as “an exemplary role model in every respect”, exceedingly “honest,” and someone who they could count on to “always have their backs.” In high school, he absolutely loved being part of his big group—“the squad” as it was affectionately known—with whom he enjoyed football games, many parties and lots of other events. These friends, too, saw him for who he was: “someone who strived to not only better himself, but others around him.”

Along with his mom, Trish (Murphy), his Dad, Bob, and older brother, Kyle, of Chalfont, Lucas is survived by his maternal grandmother, Alice Murphy, of Feasterville, his paternal grandparents, Marianne Traverse of Philadelphia and Thomas (Janice) of Florida, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who loved and cherished him and were privileged to have had Lucas in their lives. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Phil Murphy, and his cousin, David Ramsey.

Lucas’ family will receive friends on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 10:30 until his Funeral Service 12 Noon in St. Jude Church, 321 W. Butler Avenue in Chalfont, PA 18914.  His interment will be private.  Please follow CDC requirements for Social Distancing and the wearing of masks during the visitation and service.

If interested and able, Lucas’s parents have asked that memorial donations be made in his name to his gofundme page (www.gofundme.com/f/lucas-traverse-fund), which will be used to create a charitable fund in his name, or to Habitat for Humanity (https://www.habitat.org/donate).

Above all, Lucas’s parents ask that you hug and love your children the way they loved Lucas.
