Dolores H. McNany of New Britain, PA., formally of Maplewood, NJ., passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 11, 2021 with her daughter Colleen and her beloved dog Pebbles by her side. Family members were able to speak with and hear her prior to her passing. She was 89.
Dolores is survived by her four children; daughters Colleen Veni and her husband, Harry, Maureen Jansen, sons Timothy and Daniel; and daughter-in-law Kristin, widow of son Eugene E. McNany Jr., six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Born August 5, 1931 in Newark, NJ., she was the daughter of Richard and Helen Smith Byron.
Dolores spent the majority of her life in New Jersey comforting and teaching others using her passion for Nursing. She earned her BA in Nursing from Jersey City State College, Masters Degree in Nursing from Seton Hall University and her Doctorate of Education from California Coast University. Dolores taught for many years as a School Nurse in the Irvington New Jersey School District then going on to teaching School Nursing at Caldwell College in New Jersey. She loved regaling her stories and experiences of nursing throughout her lifetime. Dolores also spent years developing a book titled, “Angels in Disguise” that encompassed stories of School Nurses from every state in the United States. Over the years, she enjoyed traveling with other nurses to learn and educate various countries on nursing practices.
A devoted Roman Catholic, Dolores expanded her gift of passion to various organizations and charities. She loved breeding and showing her dogs, many who earned First Place status. She also enjoyed antiquing, the Jersey Shore, traveling with family and friends and living her life whenever and wherever she could. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who recently have been her lifeline these past few years.
Due to the current health crisis, relatives and friends are invited to join us via Live Stream on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Doylestown, PA. A video panel will be found below her obituary on the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home website (https://www.fluehr.com/obituary-detail.php?obitid=4712) Her interment will be private and will follow the Mass. A Celebration of Life will be joyously held when conditions are safe for family and friends to gather.
