Martin James Carroll

Martin James “Marty” Carroll of Holland died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at St. Mary Medical Center.  He was 76.

Marty was the loving husband of Yvonne C. Canzoniero with whom he had shared 45 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late James and Helen Gaffney Carroll.

A graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, Marty went on to work for Mrs. Paul’s foods and it was there that he would be led to his long career with the United States Government, including serving for the Army National Guard.  Following his military service, he rose to different positions for the United States Government, eventually retiring from the role of Special Agent.

Marty did a considerable amount of travelling during his career, but always made sure to enjoy a family vacation somewhere on a beach.  He was an avid fan of Philadelphia Sports, especially the Phillies and Eagles and took great pride in being actively involved with the sports that his daughter would participate in.  He especially enjoyed in sharing his summer vegetable garden with neighbors and friends.

Most of all, Marty lived for time spent with friends and family, most especially his adoring grandson, Rowan.  He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his wife, Marty is survived by his children, Martin J. Carroll of Quakertown and Kristina Carroll of Holland; the light of his life, his grandson, Rowan James Carroll-McGowan; his siblings, William Carroll of Philadelphia and Rita Smith and her husband, Robert, of Marlton, NJ; and his nieces and nephews, Eileen, James, Joanne, Maryanne, Robert, Suzanne, and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Carroll and Margaret (Peggy) Carroll.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd., Holland, PA 18966.  His interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or LifePath Foundation, 2 Life Mark Drive, Sellersville, PA 18960.
