Deanna M. Ireland (Balerno)
Deanna M. Balerno Ireland, 33, of Langhorne, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022, after a courageous battle with inflammatory metastatic breast cancer. She was the beloved wife of Robert T. Ireland. Born March 1, 1989 in Princeton, NJ, she was a daughter of Gerald M. and Karen M. (Bruns) Balerno. She spent her childhood filling the home with singing, laughter, and the warmest hugs.
Deanna was not only an outgoing person with a zest for life, but also had the gift of being able to connect to anyone and everyone she met. She adapted to the situation, fit right in, and immediately made strangers feel like they’ve been best friends for years. Whether it was TNG – The Nice Girls – from high school, her friends from Temple, or everyone she’s met into adulthood, Deanna was always so inviting, bringing all of her friends and loved ones together as one.
Friends introduced her to the love of her life, Bob. Their courtship was a whirlwind of fun adventures, such as viewing the sunrise above the clouds atop Mount Haleakala in Hawaii. However, some of the simplest moments are the most memorable, like their bike rides together to the end of Long Beach Island, where they could see across the ocean for miles.
Bob proposed to Deanna on the Bow Bridge in Central Park. 5 years, 5 months, and 5 days earlier, he asked her to be his girlfriend on that exact spot. They were wed surrounded by family and friends on October 6th, 2018, and enjoyed a dream honeymoon in Anguilla. Their prayers were answered when they found out they were pregnant, and their beautiful daughter Giuliana was born on January 12th, 2021. Deanna, Bob, and Giuliana also had many adventures as a family. One of her most cherished memories was their family trip to Disney. Deanna was able to watch the wonder in Giuliana’s eyes as she experienced the magic of Disney.
Deanna’s fight began shortly after the birth of her daughter, and she fought like a warrior. Through chemo, surgery, radiation, infusions, and many other treatments, Deanna kept a smile on her face. She was always so thoughtful and selfless, thinking about what she could do for others. Deanna’s greatest joy was being a mother. She loved to be on the floor playing with Giuliana or snuggling on the couch reading stories. She created personalized decorations using Giuliana's hands & feet to commemorate many memorable holidays. She passed on many keepsakes and sage advice for her Godson, Charlie. She also raised funds for The IBC Network; she organized a charity walk attended by more than 115 family and friends. Deanna remained true to her character of helping people by pursuing a career in insurance, like her father and sister.
Her husband Bob was her rock, loving her unconditionally. Bob worked long hours, often overnight, while also caring for Deanna and being the most incredible father to their daughter. Her home was constantly full of friends and family, who visited around the clock to bring cheer and help with Giuliana.
Along with her husband, Bob, and parents, Jerry and Karen, Deanna is survived by her daughter, Giuliana Ireland, her dog Sophie; two siblings, Scott Balerno and Chelsea Thorpe and her husband (Christopher); her maternal grandmother, Grandma Googs; and her godson, Charles Thorpe.
