Donald A. Barrella

Donald A. Barrella, 66, of Warminster, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Lynn A. Ward.

Born September 1, 1955 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Dom and Nina (Chiovari) Barrella.

Don was an avid Philadelphia sports fan; he held Eagles and Flyers season tickets for a long period.  Don was thrilled to finally see the Eagles win the Super Bowl!  The hardest season for Don was the 12 hours when a Philly sports team were not playing.

Don graduated from Central High School for Boys and Temple University, both in Philadelphia.  Prior to retirement, he worked for the Department of Defense as a Contract Specialist.

Don had a great appreciation for music, with Chicago being his favorite band. He also loved disco and even did DJ stints during the disco era, and he could do a competitive Macarena dance!

Don’s greatest joy and source of pride was his daughter Tina.  He was very active in every aspect of her life, from building blocks to teaching her to drive.  He involved himself in the cookie sales for Girl Scout Troop 2852 of Warwick, PA and even took on the job of Cookie Dad!  Don also did some time as a Dance Dad, he and Lynn shared the dance duties, so Don was a well-known face at the studio.  Don took Tina to all Philadelphia sporting events, and gave her an appreciation of attending the events.

As a family, Don, Lynn and Tina loved spending time at the Jersey Shore or the swim club during summers.  As all three of the family are beach bums and sun worshipers.  Don would always make lobster tail for his people for Valentine’s Day, an appreciated tradition.

Don will be missed for all he did for his family, for his concern for his family and his enjoyment of the family traditions and holidays.

Along with his wife, Lynn, Donald is survived by a daughter, Christina “Tina” Barrella; two siblings, Barbara Webb and Bob Barrella (Vicki); nieces, Nina and Olivia; nephews, Dion (Brittany), Sonny, and Perry; and his mother-in-law  Leona Ward.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 10:00 to 10:45 am at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church, 1410 Almshouse Road, Jamison, with the funeral mass to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Doylestown Cemetery.
