Helen L. Ziegler (Zangerle)

Helen L. Ziegler, passed in her home at Middleton Assisted Living in Granville, Ohio on June 3, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.  Born to German immigrants in Olney, PA, Helen was the only daughter of the late John and Frieda Zangerle.

Formerly a Pennington, NJ resident, Helen earned her Ph.D. level in Photography from Kutztown State University and did her undergraduate work at Drexel University.  She absolutely loved teaching Art and enjoyed a 35-year career at the Elementary, Maple Point Middle School, and Neshaminy High School.  Helen’s creativity, determination, and authenticity had a lasting impact on countless students and fellow staff members. Those fortunate enough to have known Helen can recall her protective spirit, and her ability to provide tough yet motherly love.

Helen will be remembered for her life immersed in Art - watercolor, photography, ceramics, and floral arrangements, and arts and crafts, regularly gifting her pieces for charity auctions. Helen loved cooking and baking.  Quiches and soups were among her favorites.  She often saw a recipe as a mere suggestion that could readily be improved upon by what she found in her pantry or garden.  Planning meals and baking deserts was often looked at as an extension of Helen’s loving and caring nature and whose preparation and results would include the whole family and neighbors.

Helen was an avid skier and also loved to travel and made trips long ago to Yellowstone National Park, Nova Scotia, Arizona, Mexico, New Hampshire, Maine, the former Hong Kong, the Caribbean, and Europe.  These are just to name a few.

Helen was an amazing mother, grandmother, and wife.  She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Wayne Ziegler. Helen and Wayne married in 1962.

Helen is survived by her two children and Son in Law.  Joan Ziegler and Todd Plathe, and Kevin Ziegler.  There are three grandchildren whom include: Tayler Plathe, Joshua, and Ryan Ziegler.

Relatives and frineds are invited to attend Helen’s viewing on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 10:00AM until her Funeral Service 11:00AM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. Her interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Feasterville, PA.
