Marilyn L. McCarron (Johnson)

Marilyn L. McCarron, a resident of Regency of Northampton in Holland, PA, passed away on June 18, 2022 comforted by her loving family. She was 82.

Marilyn was born in Philadelphia to Helen and Gus Johnson and lived in West Oak Lane with her parents until her teen years when the family moved to Oreland, PA where Marilyn attended Springfield High School and excelled academically. She was the valedictorian of her class. Upon graduation, she was awarded a full scholarship to Chestnut Hill College. After graduation in 1961, she returned to her old high school as a math teacher and went from student to colleague of her old teachers.

Marilyn met her husband Bob McCarron in the summer of 1957 and they were married in June of 1962. They were married for 60 years and were blessed with three beautiful daughters, seven fantastic grandchildren and three exceptional sons-in-law!

Career opportunities resulted in Marilyn and her family living in Flanders, NJ, Upper Dublin, PA, Medfield, MA, Westport, CT and Washington Crossing, PA. Marilyn taught at the various high schools where she lived until she moved to Washington Crossing and became a faculty member at Rider University and Bucks County Community College for many years. Marilyn earned graduate degrees from both Villanova University and Temple University during these years. Along the way, Marilyn and Bob had three daughters – Anne, Tracy and Carolyn – and seven grandchildren – Rebecca, Ryan, Mark, Matthew, Steven, Sarah and Erin.  Sons-In-Law Dave, Mike and Jim and siblings Barbara, Jim, Mike and Tom were also an important part in Marilyn’s life.

Upon retirement, Marilyn and Bob moved to Charlottesville, VA for three years before returning to Holland where they lived at Regency of Northampton until her death.

Marilyn had many interests that she pursued over the years. She enjoyed traveling and visited many interesting places around the world. She loved history and was an active member of the Questers, an international organization that encourages an appreciation for antiques and the preservation and restoration of historical landmarks. Marilyn was the president of the Charles River chapter in Massachusetts and the Peaceable Kingdom chapter in Bucks County.

Marilyn defined herself as wife, mother, grandmother, educator and friend. She excelled in all of these and will be greatly missed by those she loved as well as the many who loved her.

Relatives and friends may greet Marilyn’s family on Monday, June 27, 2022, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Joseph A Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown Richboro Road, (at Holland Road) in Richboro, PA 18954.
