Peggy Ann O'Donnell (Hurn)

Peggy Ann O’Donnell, 84, of Newtown, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Terrence R. O’Donnell. Born December 12, 1937, in Newcastle, PA, she was a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Thomas) Hurn.  Peggy was preceded in death by brother James (Jimmy) Hurn and his wife Tina, her sister Shirley Wray and her husband Jack Wray, and her sister Marilyn Ardis and her husband Leroy (Chicki) Ardis. Survivors include two children, Melanie A. Duran (Joseph) of Folsom, CA, and Jon Whiteman of Doylestown, PA.  Other family members include Matthew Whiteman, her grandson, her sister-in-law, Colleen O’Donnell, many cherished nieces, nephews, and wonderful supportive friends.

While Peggy was born in Newcastle, her family relocated to Bucks County and she graduated from Pennsbury High School.  She was the captain of the Pennsbury Cheerleading team and she remained friends with her many of her high school friends including her dear friends Anne, and Linda (Page) Blasch, her cheerleading teammate who was the “P” in Pennsbury at football games.

Peggy held various roles and interesting professions at different places of employment throughout her working years. Besides being a hard worker, she always was looking out for family in getting them hired where she worked including opportunities at a Pennwood Crossing Manufactured Home Community and CCI mass mail production.   After retiring, she and Terrence relocated first to Mountain Home, AR, then Ocala, FL to become horse people and then onto Pawleys Island, SC.  They enjoyed everything that Pawley’s Island had to offer such as golf, the beach, mahjong group, dear friends, and neighbors. Peggy then returned to Bucks County, her final resting place.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family at 11:00 am with the memorial service to follow at 11:30 am Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd), Richboro. Interment will be held privately.

Following memorial service, guests are invited to a hosted buffet lunch at 59 Almshouse Wood Grill Bar, 59 Almshouse Road, Richboro, PA 18954 (215) 355-5959.
