James R Buckley Sr.

James R. Buckley, Sr. of Holland died surrounded by his family on July 9, 2022 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was 79. Beloved husband of 56 years to Kathleen D. (Morris) Buckley. 

Son of the late Ethel and Peter Wolfert, Jim was raised in Philadelphia, and graduated from Frankford High School in 1961. He then went on to complete the apprenticeship training program through Plumbers Local Union 690. During this time, Jim served as a Sergeant in the United States Army Alaska. He continued his education in Business Administration attending Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia. 

Jim enjoyed a long and successful career serving as a member of Plumbers Local Union 690 for 60 years. In his tenure as Administrator of the Health and Welfare Funds, Jim took pride in supporting his fraternal brothers and sisters. After retirement, Jim founded and developed the Delaware Valley Health Care Coalition and more recently acted as a mechanical contracting consultant. He also gave his time in service to the Catholic Church as an usher at Sunday mass. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, and took deep pride in his children, nieces, nephews, and their families. He particularly enjoyed attending and sharing in his grandchildren’s sporting events, activities, and interests. Jim cherished his many memories of taking trips around the country and abroad. 

In addition to his wife Kathleen, he is survived by his children: James R. Buckley, Jr., (Anissa), Peter T. Buckley (Angelique) , Colleen Cunnius (Chad), 10 grandchildren, Annabelle, Benjamin, Chad, Jack, Nathan, Elijah, Casey, Abraham, Charlotte, and Corrine, brother in law Thomas Morris (Ann) and sister in law Elizabeth Zebrowski (Bob). James is preceded in death by his son Brian Joseph Buckley, and siblings Edna Braun (Bill), Al Stiles (Dorothy), Robert Stiles (Rose) and Thomas Stiles (Carol). 

Friends and loved ones are invited to join his family on Monday evening, July 18, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Holland and on Tuesday July 19, 2022 at St. Bede the Venerable Church 1071 Holland Rd. Holland from 10:00am, until the start of his Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.

Contributions in his memory may be made to Penn Palliative Care - Inpatient Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) at 3400 Spruce St; FL 2 in Philadelphia, PA  19104.
