Dewey P Clark

​Dewey P. Clark died peacefully on July 17 at Pennswood Village, Newtown, PA. He was 88 years old. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the beloved husband of Rosemarie Schmitt Clark, son of the late Dewey and Anne Lacey Clark. ​Dewey was a resident of Newtown for the past 8 years. ​

Dewey’s professional career spanned 45 years in the insurance/reinsurance field.  He began as an agent with his father; then worked at Continental Insurance in various positions including marketing some specialty lines, an assignment as their corporate representative to a British/American joint venture in Brussels (1965 to 1969), and, on returning, managed the international reinsurance department. In 1973, he was hired by Prudential Reinsurance to develop a reinsurance department for international operations; eventually having offices in Hong Kong, Brussels and London. Later, he also oversaw Marine and Surety operations. After retiring, he served as an ARIAS certified arbitrator for several years, often as Umpire in reinsurance cases.

He served on the board of Corporación MAPFRE (Madrid) for several years as a representative of Pru Re. He served as a board member at: Aljira Arts Center (Newark), Family Service of Morris County, Colonial Symphony and Clergy Partnership on Domestic Violence. His activity at Pennswood has included these committees: Financial Advisory, Intranet Development, Strategic Planning, Trenton Clothes Packing, and the PVRA Board.  

He received his undergraduate degree in Spanish from LaSalle University, class of 1956.

​In addition to his beloved wife Rosemarie, he is survived by his children, Marianne Clark,  Michael Clark and his wife Kristine.  He is Pop-pop to his 4 dear grandchildren; Sara and Andrew Rubenstein and Connor and Ryan Clark.
