Barry S. White Jr.

Barry S. White, Jr. of New York City passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday August 7, 2022 at Weill Cornell Hospital in New York City. He gave the gift of life through organ donation and was able to save five people’s lives after his passing.

He was the beloved husband of Kara A. Grehan and son of Evelyn M. Rink Cain and stepson of Richard T. Cain of New Hope, PA. Barry was the devoted father of his twin sons, Curtis G. and Reade G. White. Born in Philadelphia, Barry was a graduate of Council Rock High School. He received his B.S. degree in Chemistry and English from Dickinson College and University of Durham in England. He earned his law degree from George Washington University. Barry practiced law as an intellectual property litigator for over 25 years. He retired as a founding partner of the former firm of Frommer Lawrence and Haug LLP, in New York City.

In recent years Barry was very active as a coach in both the Downtown Little League and Downtown Soccer Club in Battery Park City, NYC. As an avid runner, he enjoyed running along the Hudson River. Barry’s greatest joy was teaching his sons to ski, fish and play tennis. Barry is survived by his brother Greg White (Kristin), sister, Wendy White Tilley (Vince), his aunt Marilyn Rink Gunne and his uncle Manny Gunne, and his cousins, Melanie Gunne Keller, and the late Todd Gunne. He is also survived by his nieces Briana, Emma, and Isabella and nephew, James.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet his wife and family on Friday August 19, 2022 from 10:00am until his funeral Service, 12:00pm at St. John United Methodist Church, 820 Almshouse Rd. Ivyland, PA 18974. Barry’s Funeral Service will also be Livestreamed below the text of his obituary on this Tribute Page. 
Barry's Celebration of Life will be onSaturday, September 17, 2022 from 3-6 pm at 6 River Terrace, Manhattan, New York City, NY 10282.
