John S. Solic

John Solic of Riegelsville, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in Coatesville, PA, with family by his side. Born in Levittown, PA in 1960 to parents Michael and Dorothy Solic, John was 62 years young when he passed after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

A graduate of Delhass High School in 1978, John worked as a carpenter by trade for many years.  He became a part-time employee of UPS for a few years and then spent remainder years as a full time UPS driver for 25 years total.  John, or “007” as he was better known, was dearly loved by his fellow UPSers.

He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing, or just walking through the woods.  While he passionately enjoyed trout fishing on the Musconetcong River, his favorite was hunting the “elusive” gobbler in the north central Pennsylvania woodlands.  He was always at one with nature.  John also took pride in keeping his yard maintained, with several perfect spots to just reflect, as his home overlooked the Delaware River.  He was actively part of the Riegelsville community, spending countless hours with his friends at the American Legion Post 950.  As a great storyteller, John shared his adventures of UPS deliveries, that kept his friends and family laughing.  His sense of humor and great smile brightened your day just when you seemed to need it.

John was a wonderful brother and uncle.  He loved his family and often shared stories of growing up as “the only boy with 4 sisters” with his nieces and nephews.  Although he was the only boy, he had very dear childhood friends that were like brothers to him.

While John will be dearly missed by all who knew him, he would want everyone to know that he was prepared to meet his Lord and Savior, and to be reunited with friends and family that had gone before him.  I have no doubt God himself will be amused by his stories which he will be telling in no time.

John is survived by his sisters Denise (Larry) Fong of Philadelphia, Pa; Karen Grapes of Coatesville, PA; and Sharon (Kenneth) Pezzola-Douglas of Bradenton, Fla; nieces Lauren Fong, Leann (Robert) Lupton and Chelsea (fiancée Nicholas Iacovella) Pezzola; nephews Michael (Laura) Fong and Jared (Jessie) Grapes; great nieces Olivia Grapes and Harper Lupton; great nephew Levi Lupton.

John is preceded in death by his parents Michael Solic and Dorothy Belic Solic; his sister Melanie Solic Gilman; and his grandparents Stephen and Sara Belic; grandmother Dorothy Solic.

John's family will recieve friends on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 11:00am until his Memorial service 12 Noon in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), in Richboro, PA 18954.
