Carolyn Rose McTiernan (Bianchi)

Carolyn “Carol” Rose McTiernan of Holland, PA passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the age of 94.  Carol was the beloved wife of the late William “Bill” McTiernan, and the loving and devoted mother of Debbie McDermott and the late Karen Caggiano.

Carol was a woman of great faith who loved her family.  She was born in Long Island City, New York, and grew up alongside her brothers, Tommy and Al.  Carol had an eye for fashion and design and enjoyed decorating.  She met her late husband, Bill, working at the New York Federal Reserve Bank in 1949, and they were happily married for 64 years, until his passing in 2017.

Nothing was more important to Carol than her family.  She enjoyed cooking and having her daughters and grandchildren over to visit.  A nurturing soul and compassionate listener, Carol had deep connections with her grandchildren and especially cherished spending time with her great-grandchildren.  Carol also loved gardening and flowers and found particular joy and beauty in nature.  Carol’s faith was very important to her, and she had a special devotion to St. Jude, sharing her birthday with his feast day.

Most recently, she moved in with her daughter, Debbie, and son-in-law, Sean, and enjoyed being so close to family.  “Sunday Dinner” and other family meals were especially treasured, in addition to visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Debbie McDermott, Debbie’s  husband, Sean, as well as her beloved grandchildren: Jacqueline McDermott-Wintch, and her husband, Timothy Wintch; Jennifer Caggiano and her husband, Will Daniels; Matthew McDermott and his wife, Jenna; and Caroline McDermott.  She is also survived by her cherished great-grandchildren: William, Madeleine, Emma Grace, Mary Katherine, Maximilian and many dear nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband Bill and daughter, Karen, Carol was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas “Tommy” and Alfred “Al” Bianchi.

A Funeral Mass will be held on September 13, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Bede the Venerable parish in Holland, PA, followed by Carol’s interment at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery in Doylestown, PA.

Carol enjoyed watching Holy Mass and saying the Rosary on the Eternal World Television Network (EWTN).  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carol’s honor to the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) at 5817 Old Leeds Road Irondale, AL, 35210 or online at https://donations.ewtn.com/
