Mary Jane Sergeant (Radhe)

Mary Jane Radhe Sergeant of Doylestown died peacefully on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Pine Run Health Center in Doylestown. She was 88.

She was the beloved wife of 60 years to the late Robert Bruce Sergeant.  

Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Alfred George and Ruth Elizabeth Mehring Radhe.

Mary Jane was a resident of Chalfont for 48 years having formerly resided in New Britain. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Doylestown. Mary Jane was a graduate of Beaver College (now Arcadia University) and was employed as an English teacher prior to beginning her family with Bruce.  After her children were grown, she worked in the library and archives of Delaware Valley College (now University).  Mary Jane was well versed in early American history, and furniture and enjoyed working on their old stone farmhouse.  She was also a member of The Questers, Featherbed Chapter, for many years.  Mary Jane will be truly missed by her family and friends.

Mary Jane is survived by her children; Carol Husband and her husband Phillip of Washington, D.C., Barbara Ulrich and her husband Peter of Bedminster, PA, and Robert Sergeant and his wife Ilze of Chalfont. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Isabelle, Christian, Hunter and Savannah.

Mary Jane’s family will receive condolences on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 10:00am until her Memorial Service at 11:00am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901. The interment will take place privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main Street, Doylestown, PA  18901.
