William W. Focht

William W. Focht, of New Britain, passed away January 17, 2023. He was 83 years old.

On August 23, 1969, he married the love of his life, Ruth Ann Laubach, at Shamokin Dam, PA.

Born January 3, 1940 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Dr. William W. and Ethel Leedom Focht.

William graduated from Lebanon High School in 1957, and went on to graduate from LVC in 1963 with a degree in History.  He later earned a master’s degree from Shippensburg University (State College).  He taught school in Chambersburg, PA for five years before teaching at the Wissahickon School District for 31 years.

William loved to read history books and investigate genealogy. He was a member of numerous local and national historical societies.  He loved to travel with his wife and enjoyed exploring New Mexico, spending time at spring training in Arizona, visiting the Christmas Markets in Germany, and touring Paris.

William is survived by his brother John Focht of Ocala, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

His services and internment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.  Please consider a library or local historical society for your generosity.
