Joanne C. Bersin (Orth)

Joanne C. (Orth) Bersin died on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. She had just celebrated her 80th birthday.

Beloved wife of the late Edward H. Bersin, they had celebrated 13 years of marriage at the time of his death in 1976.

Daughter of the late John C. and Anna M. (Schreiner) Orth, Joanne was the  sister of the late Mary Ott and Laura Goldstein.

Joanne graduated from Girls' High School of Philadelphia and Manor Junior College.  She had a long career in healthcare, including 22 years at Thomas Jefferson University, where she worked on clinical research projects.

Her faith was an important part of Joanne's life.  Since the 1970s, she was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America at St. Matthew's parish in Mayfair, often serving as Regent for the Court of St. Matthew's.

In retirement, she volunteered at St. Mary's Medical Center and Doylestown Hospital.  She loved reading, gardening and travelling. She was a life-long Phillies fan.  She enjoyed spending her time with her constant companion, her dog, Dieter.

Joanne was the loving mother of John, Timothy, and Joanne P. Bersin; and the grandmother of Theresa and Matthew Bersin.

Relatives and friends may greet Joanne’s family on Friday, February 24th from 10am, until the start of her Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Road in Newtown, PA 18940. Burial to follow at All Saints Cemetery, Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
