Robert Louis Burger

Robert L. Burger, 96, of Richboro, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (Bell) Burger, who passed away in 1993.

Born June 22, 1926 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late John J. and Anna C. (Blankfield) Burger.

Bob was a resident of Richboro for 92 years. He attended Richboro High School, while working with his father on what was to become a third generation dairy farm. He was ingenious in many ways, often redesigning and modifying the many machines the farm used in daily operations. He found the time to teach his sons not just about farming, but about family life. In 1987 Bob had the idea to convert from dairy farming to sod farming.

After retiring from the sod farm in the mid 1990’s he traveled to New Mexico, South Dakota, Montana, Panama Canal, Alaska, and a wonderful trip to Ireland and Bermuda. He enjoyed playing golf, bocce ball and playing cards with friends from the Northampton Senior Center.

Bob was a true role model for his entire family. He instilled a strong work ethic in his two sons and saw fit that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren had the knowhow and means to live meaningful and purposeful lives.

Survivors include two sons, Robert L. Burger, II (Kathleen) and Thomas A. Burger (Kathryn); five grandchildren, Kristin (Michael), Robert III (Kelly), Thomas Jr., Brittany (Robert), and Kimberly (Patrick); and eight great-grandchildren, Helaina, Chase, Owen, Patrick, Evelyn, Brody, Christopher, and Conor.

Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, John and William Burger.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family Monday, March 6, 2023 from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 10:00 am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Feasterville.

Contributions in Robert’s name can be made to the charity of your choice.
