John W. Nickels, Jr.

John W. Nickels Jr. of Chalfont, PA died peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at his home surrounded by the love of his family. He was 80.

John was the loving and devoted husband of the late Kathleen Mulholland Nickels, with whom he shared over 54 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John W. Nickels Sr. and Lillian Kenny Nickels. His two sisters, Barbara Tramo and Patricia Tangradi, predeceased him.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen P. Percetti and her husband, Thomas, of East Rockhill, and his son, John W. Nickels III of East Coventry. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Thomas Percetti and his wife Lisa, Nicole Wood and her husband Robert, Mason Nickels, Tyler Nickels, and Emily Nickels.

John was a graduate of West Catholic High School for Boys; he went on to join the US Army and was stationed in Germany for most of his service where he was a M-14 Sharpshooter.

He was employed by Moore Products Company in Springhouse for over 35 years.  After retiring from MPCo, he worked in the electrical department at the estate of George S. Snyder in Hatfield and worked at his brother in-laws’ company, Sentinel Process Systems. He was also a beloved crossing guard in New Britain Township crossing children at St. Jude’s and Butler Elementary schools.

He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus and a past Grand Knight. He was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Hilltown since 1976 where he and his wife volunteered at the annual carnival.  

His passion was his family and he loved being a huge part of his children and grandchildren’s lives. He loved watching the Phillies and Eagles and especially loved watching the Nascar Race in the Pocono Infield with his son, son in-law, and grandson.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 10:00AM. until his Funeral Mass at 11:00AM Friday March 24, 2023 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 100 Broad Street, Hilltown, PA 18927. His interment with military honors will follow in the parish cemetery, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Hilltown.
