James T. Gilbey

James T. Gilbey of Jamison, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023. He was 93. He was the beloved husband of Marie Hamill Gilbey of 56 years.

James was born on May 29, 1930 in Philadelphia to the late Sidney and Katherine Fahey Gilbey.

James graduated from Roman Catholic High School in 1948. From there he went and served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 – 1954. Throughout his life he enjoyed film and photography. Jim worked in the film developing industry with the G.A.F. Corporation as a Regional Manager in Chicago, Los Angeles, and 8 plants on the east coast. He spent five years in the Philadelphia area as President of Colorcraft of Philadelphia. Before retiring he worked 17 years in the one-hour film developing industry with CPI Corporation as a Regional Manager. He retired in 1998.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Cyril Parish as well as St. Bede the Venerable Church for 30+ years.

In his younger years, he enjoyed tennis and spending time with his family and siblings at the Jersey Shore.

Along with his wife Marie, James is survived by his daughter, Maureen Smart and her husband Dalton; grandchildren, Katherine (Matthew), Dalton (Catherine), James, William, Patrick, John Paul, Mary, Martha, and Lucy; brother, Joseph Gilbey; as well as many extended family members.

Family and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass for James on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 12:30pm in St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966. We ask for all to be seated in the church by 12:15pm. His interment will take place privately at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in James’ memory to Roman Catholic High School, 301 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
