Harvey Albert Shuhart Jr.

Harvey Albert Shuhart Jr., died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia. He was 67 years old.

Harvey was the devoted husband of Janet K. Lydon Shuhart. The couple had been married after meeting on a blind date, almost 41 years ago.

Born in Philadelphia, Harvey was the son of the late Harvey A. and Margaret Scullion Shuhart. He was the brother of Joan Marie Eichorn (Darren), the late John M. Shuhart and Michael Shuhart.

In addition to his wife Janet, Harvey will be deeply missed by his children, Caitlin Hix and her husband Christopher, and Harvey A Shuhart III and his wife Felicia. He was the best “Beebop” to his grandchildren, Taylor, Ava, Harvey IV, Lincoln and Harlow. Time spent with his family was of greatest importance to him.

Harvey was a brilliant engineer who owned Control Dynamics Corporation for 39 years, inventing and designing many electrical devices. He was a general aviation pilot and instructor holding multiple ratings. But he was more than just an instructor to pilots, he was a teacher and mentor to many. He was humble, honest and generous without ever seeking recognition. His wish was to be remembered as a good man and that hope was surely achieved. He will be missed by many.

Relatives and friends may greet Harvey’s family on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 10:00 am until the start of his Funeral Mass at 11:30, at St. Cyril Catholic Church, 1410 Almshouse Road in Jamison, PA 18929. His interment will take place at St. John Neumann Cemetery in Chalfont, PA.

There will be a luncheon following the interment and Harvey’s family hopes that you will join them to share fond memories, and stories in celebration of Harvey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation: Philadelphia, Delaware and Susquehanna Valley at 5 Valley Square; Suite 210 in Blue Bell, PA 19422 or at www.wish.org
