Andrew "Drew" P. Ballentine

Drew Ballentine, age 57, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, surrounded by family at his home.

He was born to parents Jim and Pat Ballentine in Staten Island, New York on July 30, 1966.  He attended St. Peter’s Boys High School and SUNY Cortland. He married Mary Ballentine on October 12, 1996 in Lahaska, Pennsylvania. He worked as a field technician for Verizon for over 25 years.

Along with his wife, Mary, Drew is survived by two children, Emily Ballentine and Angus Ballentine, and his beloved dog, Murphy; six siblings, Laura Voras, Mary Ellen Johnston, Matthew Ballentine, Leo Ballentine (Anne), Peter Ballentine (Michelle), and James Ballentine; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his mother, father, and brother, Frank Ballentine.

Drew was a devoted father, loving husband, avid reader, thoughtful friend, compassionate advocate, intentional altruist, and seeker of truth. He cared deeply for his community and always rooted for the happiness and success of his loved ones, near and far. He was politically engaged and supported causes he believed would help others. He appreciated literature, the arts, and philosophy, especially the Stoics and Tibetan Buddhists. Drew truly cherished life. He loved playing board games with his family, listening to countercultural rock, watching documentaries, golfing at Fairways, cheering on Manchester United, and reliably impressing everyone with his trivia knowledge.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Drew’s family Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, Drew would be honored if donations were made to the BlinkNow Foundation, an organization that he has passionately supported and contributed to for many years.
