Kevin J. Perrine Sr.

Kevin J. Perrine of Quakertown, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the age of 84.

Kevin was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 12,1939 to the parents of David and Virgina Perine.  He was raised in Brooklyn until the age of four when his parents moved to Hatboro, PA.  Kevin graduated from Roman Catholic High School in 1957.

Kevin started his working career owning his own retail children’s shoe store called Perrine’s Shoes in Philadelphia, PA.  Although things didn’t quite work out as he planned, he continued working in the industry by becoming a Manager at Faherty’s Shoes in Southampton, PA.  There, he continued to sell shoes and also began learning the craft of repairing shoes.  He then became a Driver/Sales for Coca Cola, Philadelphia, delivering cases of Coke to local businesses throughout the city.  While still maintaining his love for the shoe industry and the desire to be his own boss, he opened his first shoe repair store called Perrine’s Shoe Repair in the Plymouth Square shopping center, Conshohocken, PA.  Having much success at that location for nine years, but wanting to expand his growing business, he moved to the Plymouth Meeting Mall and opened P&B Shoe Service.  He remained at that location for 18 years.  Over time, Kevin could see the shoe repair business was a dying trade, and along with health concerns, decided to leave the industry.  Thereafter, he worked at various companies, including Teva Pharmaceuticals, Solar Atmospheres and Theater Solutions.  He rounded out his career, before retirement, as a bus driver for special needs students in the Pennridge School District.

Kevin was always a family man coming home after a long day at work mustering up the energy to play ball with his two young sons, Kevin Jr. and Dave.  Leading by example through his strong work ethic and his ability to help others in need, Kevin was a genuine, good-hearted person.  He was kind, caring, gentle and super friendly, always easily striking up a conversation with anyone.  He was an avid reader, specifically enjoying US History.  A lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, he watched all games with enthusiasm.  After his children became adults, he turned his attention to his 7 grandchildren, always providing words of encouragement and praise.  Showing true grandparent dedication, he attended all of their sporting events and school activities.  Nothing was more important to him than time spent with family.

Kevin is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Rosemary (Nicholas) Perrine, his son David L. Perrine, his brother David Perrine, and his sister Francine Perrine-Wittkamp.

Kevin will be forever loved by his children Kevin (Melissa) Perrine Jr. and Elizabeth (Ronald) Bean and daughter-in-law Patricia Perrine.  He is also survived by his seven loving grandchildren who were the light of his life;  Alexandra (Eric) Mueth, Sammantha (Karl) Pfeil, Christian Perrine, Nicholas (Samantha) Perrine, Jacob Perrine, Andrew Bean and Adam Bean, as well as two Great Grandchildren Madelyn and Colette Mueth.  He is also survived by his sister Mary (James) McFadden and brother-in-law Thomas Wittkamp, along with several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in a Celebration of Life ceremony from 12:00-3:00 pm on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the William Penn Inn, Carriage Ballroom, 1017 Dekalb Pike, Gwynedd, PA 19436.  His internment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Special Olympics Pennsylvania, 2570 Boulevard of the Generals, Suite124, Norristown, PA 19403.
