Karen E. Kuehne (Taylor)

Karen Elizabeth Kuehne (Taylor), 72 years old of Line Lexington, PA passed away on January 18th surrounded by her loving family.

Karen attended Central Bucks (West) High School in Doylestown, PA, She continued her education at Millersville University in Millersville, PA, graduating in 1973 with a B.S. in elementary education (magnacum laude) with a minor in library science. She completed graduate studies at Acadia University in Glenside, PA and attained PA State Certification. She taught third grade with the North Penn School District (Montgomery Elementary). She became actively involved in early childhood education/development initiatives, and participated in the Please Teach Me program, Lansdale, PA. She also taught drama and directed theater productions for children with Theater and Kids, Lansdale, PA. She was an early advocate of home education, homeschooling all three of her daughters from K through 12th grade. She, along with her husband, founded Lexington Christian Academy, a 501c3 organization offering fine arts instruction (drama, music, and ballet) for homeschooled students. With Lexington Christian Academy, she produced and directed 11 consecutive theatrical and musical productions for homeschooled junior and senior high school students. She encouraged her students to do all with excellence and to the glory of God.

Karen was born in 1951 to the late Robert and Elizabeth Taylor (Ortt) in Doylestown, PA. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Paul Kuehne; three beautiful daughters, Tracy Mickle and her husband Allen of Louisville, Kentucky, Alicia Bohlman and her husband Daniel of Delta, Pennsylvania and Shaina Sullivan and her husband Tim of Vestal New York; brother, Wayne Taylor and his wife Marcia; loving grandmother to fifteen grandchildren, James, Caroline, Nathaniel, Christina, William, Patrick (Mickle), Hosanna, Lilian, Samuel, Micah (Bohlman) and Juliet, Andrew, Violette, Edmond and Evelyn (Sullivan).

Relatives and friends are invited to Karen’s funeral service on Thursday, January 25th from 11am to 12pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 84 East Oakland Avenue, Doylestown, PA. Guests are invited to a sharing and visitation luncheon with the family after the service in the church parish hall from 12pm-2:30pm. Interment will take place at Whitemarsh Cemetery on Friday, January 26th at 10am.
