Betty Scicchitani (Mergler)

Betty Scicchitani, 96, of Warminster, passed away February 7, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore D. Scicchitani, who passed away in 2018.

Born April 8, 1927 in Buffalo, NY, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Estelle (Christ) Mergler. She was also the niece of the late Lillian (Christ) Buck and Irving Buck.

Betty graduated with her nursing degree from Buffalo Deaconess Hospital in 1948. After raising her daughter she pursued her career as a nursing instructor at Abington School of Nursing. In 1972 she went on to dedicate her principles of kindness and compassion as Director of Nursing at Friends Hospital until her retirement in 1994.

She will be remembered for her ability to see beauty in small wonders and her devotion the gentle spirit of caring for others.

She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to have known and loved her.

In addition to her brother Joseph, Betty is survived by her beloved daughter Sandra, (Marc Costantino) of Langhorne. She was the devoted Aunt Betty (The Big AB) to her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces-and great-grandnephews. She was a dear friend to many and like a mother to the five.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard and Walter Mergler; and cousin, Sister Anna May Gaffney SSM.
