Jo Ann Walther (Hearne)

Jo Ann Walther (nee Hearne), age 86, passed away on March 19, 2024 at Pennswood Village in Newtown, PA, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born September 20, 1937 in Salisbury, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Hearne and Almona (Keyser) Hearne. After graduating from Wicomico High School, Jo Ann attended Mary Washington College and received a degree from Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in Manhattan, NY. Upon graduation, Jo Ann fulfilled her dream of living and working in New York City.

Jo Ann raised her three sons in Pennington, NJ and was a lifelong member of Trenton Country Club. She brought her beautiful smile, her clever humor, and her sense of fun to the 9-Holers, 18-Holers, and the Trenton Country Club golf team. Jo Ann was a beloved member of The Present Day Club, the Greenfingers Garden Club, and multiple bridge clubs. She cherished her Sunday lunches with The Round Table, a group of lifelong friends. Jo Ann loved to travel and enjoyed visits to Russia, Europe, Scandinavia, and an incredible 6-week trip to Australia aboard the Queen Elizabeth II. Jo Ann’s home always had a vase of fresh flowers, in particular tulips and orchids. Another passion of hers was collecting art, which brought her great joy over the years. Her needlepointing skills were legendary. Her family will all be able to enjoy her needlepoint belts and her beautiful pillows to brighten up their homes. But most of all, Jo Ann will be remembered for her loyal and enduring gift of friendship.

Jo Ann is survived by sons Hank Walther of Valley Village, CA, and Josh Walther of New Orleans, LA. Son, Jerry Walther, passed away in 2020. We know he has welcomed Jo Ann to heaven with a glass of her favorite Pinot Grigio. She will be remembered as devoted and loving Nana to her five grandchildren, Kaethe, Hardy, Emily, Wolf, and Edwin who miss her dearly.
