Henry E. Butwel

Henry E. Butwel, 95, of Jamison, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024.

Henry was born in Philadelphia on July 12, 1928 to the late Walter J. and Benedykta Butwel. He married his beloved late wife, Catherine (O’Neill) on April 30, 1950 at St. George’s Catholic Church in Philadelphia.

Henry is survived by his loving daughters, Susan A. Goodwin (Daniel) and Nancy C. Devlin (Thomas Jr.). Henry was the adored “Pop-pop” of Steven Goetter (Margarita), Michele Goetter, Lisa Marie “Lucy” Goetter, Catherine “Katie” Wendeln (Nicholas) and Christopher Devlin; and cherished great-grandfather of Chloe, Adelaide, Margaret Mary, and Baby Wendeln. Henry is also survived by his sister-in-law Madeline O’Neill and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Walter (Cecilia) Butwel, and sister Alfreda (Edward) Koltalo, and many brothers and sisters in law.

Henry was a parishioner of St. Cyril of Jerusalem Catholic Church, a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, and held a daily Rosary devotion that he contributed to his loving Catherine.  In 1991, after 40 years of service, He proudly retired as Chief Financial Officer from Crown Cork & Seal. Henry enjoyed entertaining his family and friends, reading the newspaper every morning, golfing, card games, and traveling to the Poconos and Florida.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday, April 18th from 10am until the start of his funeral mass at 11:30am, at St Cyril of Jerusalem Church, 1410 Almshouse Road Jamison Pa, 18929. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St Cyril of Jerusalem Building fund.
