James F. Tolen

James F. Tolen (“Jim”) passed away peacefully on April 19th 2024 at his daughter’s home in Buckingham, PA, where he had resided for the past eight years.  Prior to moving to Buckingham, Jim was a resident of Northeast Philadelphia.  Jim was 95 years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Barrie (Gallagher) Tolen.

Born March 31, 1929 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late William and Mary (Quinn) Tolen.

Jim attended Girard College, where he studied Mechanical Engineering and he spent most of his career at F.J. Stokes Manufacturing as an Engineering Manager.  Jim had a very outgoing personality as well as great sense of humor and was often called upon to M.C. the annual company parties.

Jim was a life-long Philadelphia sports fan, and especially loved watching the Phillies at home and at the Park.

Jim is survived by his two children, Margie and Jim (Lorraine) Tolen and his beloved grand dogs, Lily and Mugsy.

James was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary, George, Bill, Tom, and Andy.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 10:00 am until the funeral mass at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Rd, Doylestown. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Huntingdon Valley.

Contributions in James’ name can be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
