Theresa "Terry" A. Gillespie (Shields)

Theresa (Terry) A. Gillespie, 85, of Harleysville, passed away at home on May 18, 2024 surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Gillespie.

Born August 7, 1938 in Germantown, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Duffy) Shields.

She is predeceased by her siblings, Anna, Mary, Nora, Andrew, Jim, and Catherine. She is survived by her six children, Robert Gillespie, Andrew Gillespie, Terri Gillespie, Amy Cannon (Bob), Joann Gillespie, Tommi O'Malley (Tom); 11 grandchildren, Matthew, Maureen, Carrie, Brian, Erin, Elizabeth, Jackie, Amber Lynn, Madison, Colin, and Katie; and eight great-grandchildren, Kailen, Claire, Declan, Kellan, McKenna, Asher, Isaiah, and Judah.

Theresa was what her family called, “The Matriarch” of the family. She was always sharing her wisdom and love to all of her crazy family. Whether that be sharing stories from when she was growing up or spending time with her family in her second home in the Poconos. Theresa lived a wonderful life surrounded by loved ones, especially the family dogs that she loved to spoil. She worked in offices throughout her life, as a keypunch operator, accounts payable supervisor, and front desk receptionist, but nothing compared to her job as Mom, Grandmom and GiGi. She always put her children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren first and made sure they felt loved and supported along the way. Whether that was a shoulder to cry on, childcare for her grandchildren, or going to different sporting events and dance recitals, Theresa was always there. Theresa and her husband, Robert, instilled strong family values in their children and grandchildren that will live on for generations.

Theresa’s service will take place at Shalom Assembly of God (1862 Kimball Ave Willow Grove, PA) on Saturday May 25th. The family will receive friends and family at 9 am immediately followed by the service at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation can be made to The American Heart Association or a charity of your choice in Theresa’s name.
