Brigitte Koeberlein (Wilhelm)

Brigitte (Wilhelm) Koberlein died Saturday, June 1, 2024, at home in Ivyland. She was 87 years old.

Brigitte was the wife of the late Waldfried “Jack” Koeberlein,

Born and raised in Mittelstille, Germany, Brigitte was the daughter of the late Gustav Emil and Gertrud Krebs Wilhelm.

Though Brigitte was trained in the tool and die trade before immigrating to America in her early twenties, she began a 50 year career as a research histologist at the University of Pennsylvania. She was offered several opportunities at Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University and The University of Dallas, Texas; but remained at U of Penn because she loved her work there. She was always quick to share stories of the years she spent in the laboratory.

She was extremely creative and loved gardening, whether in her enormous vegetable garden or the various flower gardens around her home. Along with cooking big meals, she enjoyed painting and showing her finished projects. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great joy.

Brigitte was a selfless person with a generous heart, always offering to lend a hand. She will be missed tremendously by her daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea and Mark Potent, and Mariella and Chris Matusek; her grandchildren, Robert and his wife Samantha, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Erin, Cody and Luke; and her great grandchildren, Colin, Jack and Paisley. She is also survived by her brother, Hubert Wilhelm; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wilhelm; and her best friend Martha Ewert.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Brigitte’s family on Monday, June 10, 2024 from 9:00am, until the start of her Funeral Service at 11:00am, at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 14100 Worthington Road in Philadelphia, PA 19116. Her interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Feasterville, PA.
