Gertrude Gauker (Stieber)

Gertrude Gauker of Langhorne died peacefully surrounded by family on Monday June 3, 2024.  She was 94.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, John S. Gauker.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Schulze Stieber.  She was the youngest of nine in a tight knit family that remained close throughout their lives.  With roots in Philadelphia, their family moved several times, eventually settling in Bucks County.

A 1947 graduate of St. Hubert’s High School for Girls, she was an accomplished musician and played the bassoon for the Delaware Valley Philharmonic.  She was also a talented piano player and teacher, and enjoyed playing the harmonica and taking part in family sing-alongs.  She was a tomboy at heart, and loved climbing trees and spending time outdoors.  She is lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, avid gardener, and fabulous baker.

Gertrude is survived by her beloved children and grandchildren: Mary C. Gauker, John M. Gauker and his wife Kelli and their children Emily, Meredith and Calvin, and Barbara A. Hipple and her husband Ronald and their son Luke.  She is also predeceased by her siblings: Mary, Anne, Loretta, George, Vincent, Dorothy, Margaret and Francis.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Monday June 17, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road, Richboro, PA 18954, and at the The Olde Church of St Andrew, 135 S Sycamore St, Newtown, PA 18940, on Tuesday June 18, 2024, from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM.  Interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
