Stella came over to the United States in 1934 when she was nine years old with her mother, Mary, and her two brothers John and Walter. Her father, Joseph, came over before them to make a future for his family. Stella had a beautiful life growing up in Port Richmond.
She met the love of her life, Matty, fell in love, and started a family. Stella and Matty raised their three children in Northeast Philadelphia’s Mayfair section. Stella lovingly passed on her Polish customs to her family through cooking and holiday traditions. Her passion was sewing and crocheting. Stella was a kind, loving, and extremely unselfish woman and helped whoever was in need. Stella was a devoted Catholic. She attended mass and said the rosary everyday.
Stella is predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Matthew Turowski, her parents, Mary and Joseph Gazda, her brother John and sister-in-law Teresa, her brother Walter and sister-in-law Dolores, her son, Bernard Turowski, and her grandson, Teddy Haldis.
