Robert Bruce McKee Sr.

Robert Bruce McKee, age 78, of West Palm Beach, Fla, passed on June 14, 2024.

Born in the Juniata section of Philadelphia in 1945 to Robert and Hazel McKee.  He attended Frankford High School graduating in 1963.

He went on to Penn State University where he majored in Accounting, and received a BS in Business Administration. In 1974 he attended Golden Gate University in San Francisco and graduated with an MBA in Management.

As a member of the ROTC program, Bruce served in the US Army from 1967-1969. He served in Vietnam with the First Infantry Division. During his service he was awarded two bronze stars, an air medal, and three army commendation medals. He was discharged from the US Army Reserve in 1977 with the rank of captain.

Returning to civilian life, Bruce worked in downtown Philadelphia and San Francisco as a CPA with several large international accounting firms.

When gambling became legalized in Atlantic City, Bruce moved the family to Marmora NJ where they lived for the next 37 years. Having joined the casino industry in its infancy, he became a pioneer in the development of properties there; their rules, systems and regulatory compliance as well. He became a VP of Finance, CFO, COO and President at several properties, including many of the Trump hotels and casino resorts. Later he became employed by Full House Resorts and served as CEO of their managed properties in Delaware and Battle Creek, Michigan.

Bruce retired in 2016 and he and his wife Lucille moved to West Palm Beach, Florida while spending summers in their Yardley, Pennsylvania home.

Bruce had great wit and was generous to his family, friends, local institutions and those in need. He was an active volunteer and supporter of Penn State University, where he served as an Alumni Advisory Board member to the Smeal College of Business. He and his wife Lucille established the Robert Bruce and Lucille D McKee scholarship at Penn State Abington, where he was later named a distinguished alumni.  He also served on many local nonprofit community boards, including Cape Regional Medical Center.

During his lifetime, Bruce enjoyed golf, tennis, skiing, music, and was a motorcycle enthusiast.  He was also a devout Eagles and 76ers fan, never forgetting his Philadelphia roots.  Most especially though was his love for his family that was his driving force.

He is survived by his three children, Jessica McKee Cuttita (Michael), Robert McKee Jr. (Kristin), Devon McKee Kisgen (James).  He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Luca, Julian, Gabriel, Riley, Cameron, Ryan, Reese, and Remi, and sisters Patricia Hillier and Janice Pastor.  He is predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years Lucille Drioli McKee.
