Edmund Theodore Mizerek
A HANDSOME FACE WILL AGE
AND A PERFECT BODY WILL CHANGE
BUT A BEAUTIFUL SOUL
WILL ALWAYS BE A BEAUTIFUL SOUL
On Thursday, August 22, Edmund Theodore Mizerek, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home in Yardley, PA at the age of 93.
Edmund was the beloved husband of Alice Chmiel Mizerek. Edmund (Ed) and Alice were blessed to celebrate their 70th anniversary in May.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, Ed was the son of the late Stephen and Stella Bilicki Mizerek. He is also the brother of the late Stephen and his wife Wanda Mizerek and Ronald and his wife the late Diane Mizerek.
Ed was a dedicated and passionate family man and a proud Korean War veteran. As a young man, Ed entered the US Army and served his country as a military policeman in Italy. He was then called to Korea and valiantly served his country as a staff sergeant, receiving many distinguished honors and medals, including the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. Upon his return from war, Ed met Alice at a dance in North Jersey, where they fell in love, and they married. Together they had three children, whom Ed loved and supported unconditionally.
Ed was a gregarious man, and well spoken. Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him were immediately drawn to him by his kind, concerned and caring demeanor. He made all whom he encountered feel special and always had a ready smile.
Ed loved nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always there for them, whether to listen, tell a story, offer advice or share a ready hug and an “I love you”.
Ed followed current events and loved discussing world affairs. He enjoyed boating and fishing. He’d cut up the bait and cast his rod for hours, while enjoying the salt air of the ocean, which he referred to as “breathing his minerals!”. Ed was also an avid reader and a spiritual man.
In addition to his wife, Ed is lovingly remembered by his children Karen Mizerek Kearns, Edmund Mizerek, Jr. and his wife Colleen, David Mizerek and his partner Brittany Rogers and his former son-in-law Joseph Kearns; his cherished grandchildren Brandon Kearns and his partner Ali Raffle, Renee and Samantha Mizerek and Andrew, Matthew and Julie Mizerek. He will be greatly missed by his great grand-dog Pork Chop.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet Ed’s family on Tuesday, September 3rd from 10:00 AM until the start of his Funeral Mass, at 11 AM at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 999 Reading Avenue in Yardley, PA 19067. Interment with military honors will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
