Raymond Lawrence Burkett Sr.

Raymond L. Burkett, of Trevose died peacefully at St. Mary’s Medical Center while surrounded by his loving family on Monday morning August 26, 2024. Ray, 89, was the loving husband of Joan Burkett for 63 years and lived in Trevose for most of his married life.

Born in Philadelphia on June 12, 1935, he was the son of William and Esther Burkett and was the youngest of 6 siblings, William, Harry, Thelma, Dorothy and Bob. Ray is the loving father of two sons, Raymond Jr, and Richard and proud grandfather of Sean and Taryn Burkett.

After two years of service for the US ARMY in Germany, Ray started working at Bond Bread and moved to being a door-to-door milkman for over 15 years at Breuninger’s Dairies in Philadelphia. Ray moved onto wholesale milk delivery for Johanna Farms and retired at the age of 62 as a proud “Teamster” for the dairy industry in 1997. Once retired, Ray devoted much of his time to his church, Assumption BVM in Feasterville, as an Usher / Head Usher, Eucharistic Minister and dedicated member of the church. He continued giving of his time as a member and former Grand Knight of the Local Knights of Columbus where he was still active up to his passing.

Everyone who knew Raymond loved his upbeat personality and joyous attitude towards life and everyone he met. He will be missed.

Ray’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 10:00 until his funeral mass at 11:00 at Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church, 1900 Meadowbrook Rd Feasterville, PA 19053. His interment will follow immediately at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Rd in Bensalem PA.

In Lieu of flowers, Raymond would appreciate donations be made to St. Jude Hospital or Shriners Hospital.
