Richard "Dick" V. Young

Richard V. Young, of New Britain, PA died on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Christ’s Home Warminster. He was 90.

He was the beloved husband of 62 years to the late Viola H. Young.

Born in Red Hook, NY, he was the son of the late John and Janice Curran Young.

Dick, as he was known to family and friends, attended Upper Southampton – Warminster High School. Dick worked in the Heating Oil business for many years before opening his own business, R. V. Young Fuels Inc, in New Britain in 1976, which he operated for over 25 years.

Dick to say the least was very entrepreneurial, which kept him very busy. He enjoyed traveling and camping up and down the East coast from Maine to Florida, especially the New England area.

Sea Isle City was a favorite spot on the Jersey Shore; he said it was a great safe place to take the family for fun and relaxing. Dick was an avid gardener. He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia sports teams and rooting for them. Monday nights you could find Dick with his friends playing a friendly game of poker.

He was a man who will be remembered for his firm handshake and quick wit.

He is survived by his two sons, Michael Young and his wife Denise of Warrington, Mark Young and his wife Mary of New Britain, his sister Jane Cove of Southington, CT. His 5 grandchildren; Richard (Brittney), Christopher (Leigh), Michael (Becky), Mark Ryan (Kristi), Kristy Walck (Jimmy), and 12 great-grandchildren also survive him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 9:00 am until his Funeral Service 11:00 am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901. His interment in Doylestown Cemetery, will be held privately.
