Norbert Peter Brust

Norbert Peter Brust of Holland, PA, passed away at home with his family in attendance on Thursday January 14, 2016.  He was 93 years old.  

He was the beloved husband of Dolores B. Brust.  They had celebrated 69 years of marriage on January 11, 2016.  

He is survived by his wife, his children: Peter and his wife Bernadette of Media, Pa, Michael and his wife Marybeth of Duxbury, Ma. and Mary Beth of Centerville, Oh. and his sister Isabel Bossong of Englewood, NJ.   He is also survived by his grandchildren: Christopher and his wife April of Toronto, CN, Casey of Boston, Ma., Mark of Quincy, Ma. and Megan of Media, Pa. 

Norbert was born and raised in the Bronx, NY.  He was a graduate of Manhattan College.  He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard the destroyer USS John Rodgers.  He was exceptionally proud of his Navy service.  Following the war, he worked for Johns Manville Corporation in a variety of Sales Management positions.  He was very involved in leadership roles in both parish and school organizations as his children were growing up.

In retirement, he and his wife Dolores settled in Holland, PA. where he and his wife have been active members of the St. Bede the Venerable Parish in Holland, PA.  They assisted in many of the volunteer activities in this Catholic Faith Community.  He was also known for tutoring his neighbor’s children.  In retirement, he enjoyed interacting with the children in his neighborhood.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday January 19, 2016 from 10:45 AM until his Funeral Mass at 12:15 PM at St. Bede the Venerable Parish Church, 1071 Holland Rd., Holland, PA 18966 (Southampton if using GPS).  His interment will follow at 2:00 PM in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Bede's Capital Campaign at the above church address or to the Jesuit Volunteer Corps - North West where one of his grandchildren is a volunteer at 3928 N. Williams Ave., Portland, OR 97208.
