He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Strunk Curtier Sweeney.

Ed was a 1964 graduate of Marist High School in Bayonne, NJ, and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ. After college, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served our Country overseas during Vietnam, attaining the rank of Captain. Ed was an athlete, and especially enjoyed running. In his younger years, he used this skill to earn a scholarship to college. During his lifetime he enjoyed going to the gym, and was often seen at the Cranford Fitness Center. Ed was an active life member of the Cranford VFW Post 335.

He was Irish through and through, and enjoyed anything that celebrated his heritage, especially music. He was a guitar player and singer of traditional Irish songs and played occasionally with the Tipsy Rover Band of Cranford.
