(Barbara) Jeanne DeWeese (Edmiston)

(Barbara) Jeanne DeWeese of Chalfont died Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Doylestown Hospital.  She was 82.

Jeanne was the loving wife of Noel Ray “Buzz” DeWeese with whom she had shared nearly 63 years of marriage, having initially met in grade school. Their anniversary would have been on June 21st.

Born in Pueblo, CO, she was the daughter of the late David Lloyd and Barbara Louise Broome Edmiston.  During all of her childhood, Jeanne enjoyed time with her extended family in the Pueblo area, spending holidays at her grandparent’s home and summers at their home in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, with many aunts, uncles and cousins.  Jeanne’s parents relocated to the San Francisco area, which is where Buzz and Jeanne married in 1958 and had the first three of their children. Jeanne was also a competitive amateur figure skater for a few years!

Buzz and Jeanne relocated often during their married life, as his career took them to New Jersey (three separate locations, with the second transfer to Mendham, NJ also welcoming their youngest son), Illinois, Colorado, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. Through Jeanne’s love of people, her outgoing personality and involvement with local chapters of P.E.O. and her church, as well as involvement in her children’s activities, she made many friends all across the country and had an anecdote to share for every occasion! During these “younger years,” she enjoyed extensive travel, golf, tennis, bowling and even gave skiing a try.

After a time, when most of their children were beginning families of their own, Jeanne and Buzz spent many years in the Greenville, SC area, where three of their children and their families resided, prior to moving to live with their eldest daughter and her family in Bucks County, PA in 2014.  While living in Greenville, Jeanne served as a Guardian Ad Litem, advocating for foster children, a role she found to be very meaningful.

As the years progressed, Jeanne enjoyed reading, traveling to see her children and grandchildren and spending time with friends.  Once again, being well-versed in relocation, she made many friends in Bucks County, finding a new chapter of P.E.O. and becoming an active member of Living Hope Community Church.

Jeanne will be best remembered for her smile, her warm heart, her stories and her love for Jesus and her family.

In addition to her husband, Jeanne is survived by her children, Debra Lee Lajeunesse and her husband, Bernard, of Chalfont, Steven Ray DeWeese and his wife, Anne, of Elizabeth, CO, Sarah Lynn Thureson of Greenville, SC, and David Bruce DeWeese and his wife, Amanda, of Charlotte, NC.  She was a loving grandmother to Alyssa, Bernadette, Dennis, Emily, Kendall, Kevin, Lucas, Matthew L. and Matthew Z., Nolen, Steven, Thomas, Tyler and Will and great-grandmother to Abby, Allison, Calder, Charlotte, Liv, Red, Zach B. and Zach Z.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, David Bruce and William Auld Edmiston.

A service celebrating the life of Jeanne DeWeese will be held on Friday, July 9 at 11am, Living Hope Community Church, 22, Rt. 313 (Swamp Road), Perkasie, PA, with calling hours beginning at 10:00am. Please join Jeanne’s  family and friends for a light lunch immediately following the service, also at Living Hope Community Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Living Hope Benevolence Fund.
