Thomas J. Moran Service Information

Thomas J. Moran of Doylestown passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday September 8, 2023. He was 64 years old, and he was the beloved husband of 41 years to Maureen (Dornan) Moran.  Born in New Brunswick, NJ, Tom was the son of Evelyn (O’Neill) Moran and the late James Moran. 

In addition to his wife, and mother, Tom is survived by his four children: Katie Willmott and her husband Timothy; Erin Rappuhn and her husband Michael; Timothy Moran and his wife Ashley; and Kelly Langlois and her husband Collin.  He is also survived by his brother Terence Moran and wife Darleen, and his three sisters Eileen Moran, Ann Marie Angelucci and her husband Louis, and Tara Jakubowski and her husband Robert.  Tom leaves behind five loving grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Bots”: Maggie, Finnegan, Gavin, Molly, and Shannon.  His memory will also be cherished by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Tom was raised in Milltown, NJ, and he attended St. Peter’s High School in New Brunswick.  He graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, but his devotion to Rutgers football lasted throughout his life.  Rutgers also brought Tom the greatest joy in his life when he met his forever love Maureen.  During their marriage, Tom and Maureen lived in the Finger Lakes in upstate NY before living in Massachusetts for over 30 years in Springfield and Wilbraham.  They created a tight-knit family and raised their four children to be as family-oriented as they were.

Tom and Maureen re-located to Doylestown, PA in 2019 to be closer to their children and extended family. He cherished his family, and his time was enthusiastically devoted to being with his wife, children, grandchildren, parents, and siblings.

Tom’s impact on the world was far-reaching: personally, professionally, and within the community.

Tom spent his entire career working for the Farm Credit System, with the last 22 years of his career as CEO of Financial Partners.  His dedication, creativity, leadership, and mentorship greatly influenced its landscape.  He was a true visionary and challenged himself and others to “dream in color.” Those that worked with Tom saw him as an influential leader and a role model, but more importantly a cherished friend.

Always challenging himself to grow, Tom continued his education through earning his MBA from University of Hartford, his Juris Doctorate (JD) from Western New England College, and an LLM from Stetson University.  His learning was never bound by the confines of the classroom.  Tom had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and he was constantly reading and learning in order to broaden his horizons.  He especially had a love for history, which is a passion he shared with his son, his sister, and his late father.  His devotion to his Irish Heritage was strong, which was evident through his growing knowledge of his family’s personal lineage and through his joy in celebrating with friends and family on St. Patrick’s Day with his guitar and Irish songs.

Tom was a consummate teacher and a mentor to countless friends and colleagues. He was a great storyteller, and his humor and wit were enjoyed wherever he went.

Tom believed in helping to positively shape the lives of not only his own children, but youth throughout the community.  He was instrumental in promoting youth soccer through the growth of the Wilbraham Soccer Club and field complex.  He coached many teams over the years, where he was a role model and cheerleader for developing the athletic skills, life skills, and confidence of his players.  His positive attitude, energy, passion and joy were felt by all.

It is rare to think of Tom and not also think of Rutgers Football, as his love for the team was unparalleled.  Tom was a dedicated ticket holder for 30+ years.  During the fall season, he could either be found at Rutgers Stadium, cheering them on at away games, watching the game on television, or listening to the game for hours in his car in the driveway when it wasn’t available on TV. Through thick and thin, Tom was rooting for his Scarlet Knights.

Most of all, Tom was devoted to his family and he was so proud of the close-knit Moran Clan that he and Maureen had created.  Some of Tom’s greatest joys were spent on Cape Cod and vacationing at the Outer Banks with his ever-growing Moran Clan. He was always a family-man first and foremost, and he taught his family by example how to be the most caring and loving husband and father.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at his viewing on Monday, September 18, 2023 from 4-7pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home located at 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901. 

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday September 19, 2023, at 10:00AM, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, located at 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Rd. Doylestown, PA 18902. His interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery, Doylestown.
