Ronald L. Mayhew

Ronald Lee Mayhew, 86 years young, made his final flight to heaven after passing away on December 5th.  Ronald was born in Kansas City, KS and grew up in Denison TX.  After his graduation from Texas A&M he proudly served in the US Air Force for eight years flying various missions during the Vietnam War.  Following his service, he went to work and retired as a Captain from American Airlines.

Ron was very proud of his service and career but nothing made him prouder then having the love of his life, Kay Mayhew, by his side during their 51 years of marriage.  He is happy to be joined with her again where they are walking hand in hand sharing a Manhattan talking about their numerous travels, cruises, and trips to Atlantic City.  They are looking down together over their three beautiful daughters; Kelly Mayhew-Grofe, Laura Whartenby, and Karen Burton (Jason).

Ron is also survived by his six grandchildren: TJ Whartenby (Daniela), Heather Whartenby-Rossiter (Bobby), Sean Whartenby, Ryan Whartenby (Jessica), Wayland Whartenby, Christian Burton and seven great grandchildren: Whyatt, Connor, Christopher, Sebastian, Lucas, Cian, and Hadley.

Preceded in death by his brothers Jerry Dean, Joseph, Tom, Robert and sister Mary Helen Kilgore.  He is survived by siblings Velma Howard (Troy), Frankie Mayhew, Stella Bennett (Cliff), Roy Mayhew (Janice) and Danny Mayhew.

Ronald’s family will receive friends on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 6-8PM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.)
